Lisa, as I parent I think you need to evaluate the real reward
here. Is the main reason your daughter was reading was for some
prize? Did she not enjoy or accelerate her reading skills during
this time. Not every reward has immediate results. The goal here
is not the short term reward but the long term reward. Eventually
she will look back and be greatful for the reward she will find in
the end. Lets encourage our children to focus on the journey, not
the reward.
