In Las Vegas, most elementary schools only have a lunch break recess. The
reason? Administration wants to justify using every moment on academics.

They fail to recognize that most of our students are now very out of shape-they
lack social skills learning to cope with each other's differences and playing by the
rules. These children also need to move their entire bodies to get the brain to
function better.

Even in faculty meetings or inservices we, as adults, are given breaks.

I don't know about all of you, but if we took our kids to recess we stayed with
them-no breaks for us.
