Hello, I teach the wheel to grades 5-8. I really want my students to learn centering the right way. This results in lots of discarded clay that I have to "recycle" by wedging with new clay. I also pre-portion all of the clay into balls. This is all extremely time consuming for me. Do you have students wedge and prepare their own clay? Can you offer any other time saving tips? Thanks!!

clpbell I teach pottery wheel using 4 wheels to grades 7 and 8. The kids divide up their own clay, I have them wedge up 2 balls of clay the day before they begin throwing.
