Re: Should the arts be included in the testing for NCLB?

    Being a regular classroom teacher at this time, be so glad that there isn't a crunch on
    the arts. NCLB truly takes all the life and learning possibilities out of education. Last
    year I had to make kids work through 4, that's right 4, testing practice books which
    took about 4 weeks. Did it help them? No! It's sad the kind of pressure and attitude
    that children are exposed to in regard to learning. Long gone is the time when we
    monitored growth and and how to help each child succeed. It's seems like it's now
    one big test cram. This year I was pretty much told to cut science and social studies,
    so we can have more room for the core subjects. Ugh!
