    I think I have taught in your room! I had a similar experience
    last fall. Thankfully, my contract was an at will contract and
    these issues, plus many more made me decide to leave that
    position. I would be careful following the advice to do only
    boring lessons. It looks great in writing, but you will have
    numerous behavior issues from these types of classes. For some
    of these students there is no recess, they cannot talk during
    lunch or sit by who they want to, so art is the only place they
    can release. Unfortunately - it is in your class and you have
    to deal with it. If you don't feel comfortable in this
    position, for the sake of your sanity and the student's well
    being, find another position that fits you and your teaching
    style. I did get a contract for next year in a school that is
    more suited to me. I can happen - good luck.
