Re: paper weaving
Posted by ksart on 5/12/08

I love to weave with all ages! I do much the same as ImajinPs.
But a great trick to add even more fun is to layer your weft
(strips). I do this with 3-6th and the effect is awesome. After
they weave a pattern 2-3 colors I have them cut the thicker
strips to thin ones, straight, curvey, zig zag it doesn't
matter. Then all they have to do is slip them right over the
first layer of weft. You should be able to slide it because it
is going over the top of the strips you wove earlier. You can
also slip ones going the same as the warp (vertical) but they
will need longer pieces or use two short ones that met under one
    of the weft pieces.
Have fun! I always weave near the end of school it is very
calming and relaxing just don't go on for ever when you use
    yarn.
PLUS if you ask your students to bring a styrofoam meat tray
make sure they know what you mean, I told a funny story about
that earlier this year on this site. ;0)
