Posted by love my custodians on 5/16/08 I go out of my way to meet my custodians. I always ask them what I can do to help them in the room. Then I take care of those things as best as I can so that I don't annoy the custodian. everyone has their pet peeves. It is just smart to be on the custodians good side. My custodian does not like it when the kids leave little scraps of paper and such around their desks. So I make this a big deal with the students. Now my custodian loves me. And does it pay off!!! He brings me a big fresh made cookie every day at the end of the day from the cook and when I need to get into a room after hours for any reason, guess who has the key and always opens the door for me. You think cleaning what the janitor wants you to in your room is not your problem...ok, but I think you are being shortsighted. Instead of complaining that cleaning isn't your job. Just do what makes the janitor really crazy irritated and always have a smile and kind word for him and let him know what you do to help him. Some day it might pay off big time. Put it this way. If you love your principal, it is probably because he treats you well. So he probably treats most people well. But if you hate the principal, maybe he is a jerk and likely the janitor hates him too.
