Re: Do principals ever understand cleanup?
    Posted by: Paul on 10/31/09

Great replies by Dan and OMG!

All I do is have the students clean up 3-4 minutes before class
is over. If I was taking 15 minutes to clean up everyday........
yeah its a problem. It seems that coaches or buddies in this
high school can do what they want, but 3-4 minutes for cleanup is
    a no no.

So I now have to clean up and put their art projects away into
class folders from now on and put the books away. When that bell
rings whoosh students practically run over each other for the
door, and they will certainly forget the small stuff like
cleaning up after that bell rings.

Its funny after the principal tells me his concerns about time
management, and some students not on pure task (dead time),
then I get a IEP(504) in my mailbox for one student from this
observed art class that guarantees him "free time" during class
    and ipod or music use.

I wonder if that also will be held against me in my tenure review
if the principal stops by again for a unannounced observation!

Could be career change time for me after 9 years of hard work in
    the art classroom.
