I let my kids have a free choice when they finish their
assignment. They can have up to two 12x18 manila papers-most
just use one and they can use markers, colored pencils, crayons
and/or const. paper scraps to use as they like. I also let them
use pre-cut paper strips, Fiskar paper edgers and crimpers. As
for the ones who cannot finish on time, if it goes beyond 2 art
periods, it's unfortunate but it's an "Oh well.." unless I'm
putting up an art show. Sometimes a child is on #1 project and
the rest of the class has finished #3. I have kids skip projects
to get caught up with the rest of the class. I don't like it,
but some won't finish a project until I'm 110 yrs. old!
