Re: Pains of Painting with K-2

I have the supplies out on the tables before they come in. I arrange
everything on trays, and all they have to do is put everything back
the way they found it. I keep small buckets on the tables as well
for used paper towels and other trash. Helpers (i per table) collect
the paintings and put them on the rack. I collect the trays, clean
the water bowls, wash the brushes and reset the trays for the next
class. This takes about 5 minutes. While I do this the kids pass
the sponge to clean the tables. I never cover tables. Even though I
have 3 sinks, hand washing is way too time consuming. I hand out
baby wipes on the way out.
My kids come to art wearing their smocks. They are oversized white t
shirts with their names on the front. They wear them every time,
even if we don't paint. It's great for those of us who have trouble
remembering 700 names
