    Re: Bulletin Boards

I also do what HipWaldorf does. My biggest headache was the
FIRST bulletin board/display of the year.... when I didn't have
any art work to display. A few years back I decided to do 2
different things: In one, I do a "Guess the mystery artist" and
made some fancy frames from paper, decorated them and laminated
them. I made a big sign with a picture of a silhouette with a
big question mark inside. Inside the 'frames' I then would hang
several paintings and clues (typed on word and enlarged on the
copy machine--so it's quick and easy) I do a contest that lasts
the first few weeks of school.... leave a box on my desk where
students can put their guesses. All of the correct answers are
kept and a winner is drawn. I usually make the prize something
like "Come down to the art room during my planning period and get
a 'free' private lesson on the pottery wheel. Make something,
and come back to glaze it." The cool thing is that since most
parts of the display are pre-made (and laminated) all I have to
do each year is color copy some prints of the internet and whall-
    a!

In my other large display case I put a big easel with a sign
saying "Get to know some of Mrs. B's favorite artists" and then I
feature 4 artists. I do a picture of the artist, a picture of
one of their works, a quote, and an blurb about each one. Like
the other display I pre-make the frames and decorations and
laminate them. Then I can re-use them year after year. After 3
years, I started rotating them... no one remembers who the
artists were from 3 years ago! LOL So, while it was 3 summers of
a bit of work, I now have a rotating display that I can use over
and over. When I get ambitious I can always make another set of
artists... but I don't feel the pressure to do it this year or
even the next since I have 3 sets to re-use.
