I LOVE Artsonia! And so do my students, their parents,
grandparents, aunts and uncles! I teach at a small school (350
students) and I started posting work last February. My school
got about $400 last year. You get to pick how you want the
money (Artsonia giftcard, Blick giftcard, or a check). I just
requested the check that will be sent to my school and the
financial person at my school set up a special account for the
money so that it can only be spent by me for the art program.
I went through the process of sending home the permission slip
that Artsonia has available on their website and only posted
work of the students whose slips came back signed. This way I
cannot get into trouble for posting their work and I got a lot
of the parents registered in their students' fan clubs. I
think that the permission slip is a great way to go for 2
reasons: 1. It negates the possibility of posting work of kids
whose parents don't want you to. and 2. It builds up your fan
clubs which then leads to more parents buying stuff which
raises money for your program. My principal really likes that
this helps extend my budget for supplies and he and I have both
gotten positive feedback from many families.
Good luck!
