I tried to get my old principal to let me do artsonia... but
I think he had a fear of technology. The following year we
got a new principal and she was all for it! I've been using
the program since 2005 now and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Can't say
enough good things about it. I don't get permission prior to
putting up work. Last names aren't posted, and I don't put
photos with any of the children's faces in them, so I don't
see why it's a security issue. Parents have to approve any
comments to the artists, so nothing inappropriate can get
    through.

If your principal is paranoid, print off a copy of the
permission slips, and the info sheet that they have on the
site. Also, maybe sit down and show him a different school's
artsonia page so he can see how last names are not on there.

A few years ago artsonia changed their policy from only
writing checks out to a school account, to having the option
of writing the fundraising checks to any name. I have them
write the check directly to me and have it sent to my house.
I have a seperate savings account set up on INGDirect that I
use JUST for artsonia funds. This way I can buy what I want,
when I want without asking the financial person at my school
for the money. Luckily my principal trusts me and never asks
how I use the money... but I do honestly use it only for
school related things. The first year I did artsonia I made
around $400 which I recieved as a check made out ot the
school. What my financial guy didn't tell me was that if I
didn't spend the money by a certain date it got absorbed into
a general fund... so that money went bye-bye and I didn't get
to use it. :( after that I had the checks sent DIRECTLY to
me. It's enabled me to purchase a computer, a digital
camera, and other various supplies that I've needed for
    classes.
