Post: need advice /first time glasses

I am having a real hard time with eyestrain for far
sightedness. Dr. recommends progressive bifocal. Its getting
crucial I purchase glasses immediately, yet somehow I
pictured myself as the groovy teacher with glasses, and
cannot find an appropriate style. I lean toward designer
frames (of course) but am told they either do not work with
progressive lenses or do not fit my nose?? What do you all
do?-- do not suggest contacts, cannot see doing that at 5am...
any practical tips for me???
