When I first started my Art Club I put a sign-up sheet outside my
room (or the cafeteria would be another option) for kids to sign
up. This gave me an idea of how many kids where interested for
my planning. Then I sent a permission slip home with those who
signed up. To be allowed in Art Club they must bring it back
signed. Nowadays I skip the sign-ups because I have an idea how
many will join, so I just make the permission slips available at
lunch.
At my school a lot of kids want to be in Art Club, so I divide
them into smaller groups. My club meets 1x a week on a specific
day. So on Tuesday I meet with the same group of kids, Wednesday
a different group of kids, Thursday...etc. It works out great!
Good luck and kudos to your for starting an afterschool Art
opportuniy!!
