Liver of sulphur only works on copper or real silver I think.
If you are using the far cheaper aluminum tooling foil, like I
do most of the time, you can paint it with almost any black
paint or ink or even shoe polish. Work the black down into
the nooks and crannies, then wipe it off the high spots. If
it won't come off by wiping, use steel wool.
