Re: Re:listening to tapes while you sleep?wrong stage
Posted by AM on 6/02/06

Listening to tapes while you are asleep (delta brain waves)
    probably doesn't do much.
It has more to do with what state the brain is in. To do the
type of learning you want you need to be in the state of light
hypnosis which would be between alpha and theta.

When we go to bed and read for a few minutes before attempting
sleep, we are likely to be in low beta. When we put the book
down, turn off the lights and close our eyes, our brainwaves
will descend from beta, to alpha, to theta and finally, when we
fall asleep, to delta. Delta is the deep dreamless sleep stage.

The period right before sleep and right before awakening (alpha
to theta and theta to alpha) is the best time to listen to
tapes and be able to absorb the information.

So you could put a tape on when you go to bed and let it click
off on it's own when it's done as you will need those delta
    waves to wake up refreshed!
