Re: Teaching Shortage Crock!!!

    I see so many of you considering coming to AZ. That is hearteneing but noone
    has mentioned that AZ is consistently ranked LAST in education in the entire
    US. I have taken my kids out of public school due to sheer desperation for
    them to recieve a decent educations. They attend a charter school hhich is
    better, but even it is not great. They focus on logging attendance minutes
    regardless of how they are earned because all they care about it making sure
    they keep their charter with the state, understandably. The materials are
    more rigorous than public school (yeah!) but they whiz through them so
    quickly that retention of the information is nominal. I am basically having
    to work full time and home school them just to get them a marginal
    education. How I WISH I was not their sole supporter, I'd LOVE to be a stay
    at home mom and educate them properly!

    My teens (they'll be 17 and 14) will be removed from public school as of the
    end of this SY and will instead be enrolled in the local community college to
    begin an education that will actually benefit them. How sad that this is
    what has become of what was once the greatest example of equal education and
    opportunity for all citizens.
