Posted by Carolyn on 10/11/08 I would send a letter home to the parents indicating my intentions and explaining why it is relevant to the curriculum. I am curious to know what your agenda is here. If it is your way of taking an "anti war" stance, it might not be appropriate. If it's your way of saying "this is how today's world is, let's discuss the horrors of it all", then it is appropriate. It depends on what the message is you are trying to give to your students -- which becomes the difference between indoctrination and education.
