Re: Hey Veterans! What should I be doing?
I remember my first year of teaching and how I was beyond stressed.
I used to look at the Veteran teachers and be appalled at how they
would leave the building when they dismissed their classes and I
would be there well into the evening preparing for the next day and
then taking work home on top of that. A pile of papers used to
sleep between me and my husband because I wanted to accomplish
EVERYTHING! Now looking back I was a little too eager :-). Like you
I wanted to make sure that I did what was best for my students.
Like the other posters said, take it one day at a time and
eventually it gets easier. Organization is a tremendous help in
staying on top of things. I tend to take my papers with me wherever
I go just in case I get a spare moment and can grade some papers.
Like the other poster suggested it might be a good idea to use post
it’s as a reminder of what worked and what didn't.
Best of luck and I know that you are doing great because most
importantly you are concerned with ensuring you meet all of your
students needs.
