It is natural to second guess yourself. Every time one of my
lessons falls flat I certainly do. Not everything will work
but as long as your students are moving along, a failure once
in a while means you are trying new things and trying to improve.

I think I would be more concerned about the other teacher. If
he/she is giving 5 or more worksheets, that sounds like a
pretty boring class. It could be that your students just enjoy
your class more and do not see their efforts there as real
work. It sounds to me as if you are doing a lot of things. It
is very hard to compare one teacher to another especially when
    you are teaching different subjects.

Try to be objective rather than relying on what others say
about you - especially students. I revel is being talked about
as the hard teacher. I try to teach at least one grade level
above on-level. Our curricula are so watered down these days
that we have to increase our efforts. The bright students will
have no problem working one grade level above and the on-level
kids will be challenged and pulled up. My philosophy is that
our standard tests are absolute minimum standards so we need to
aim really high to start seeing total success and increased
    commended performances. But I digress.

If you are holding par with your peers and your kids seem to be
learning the material and your appraisals are fine, I wouldn't
worry too much about this statement by a few students.
