The 10,000 hour rule states that you will not become a master of
any skill until you reach that magic number. The first three
years are the toughest. You need 6 years to become good and 10 to
become great. The first three are where one in three teachers
leave the profession. Unfortunately, if they had just stuck it
out for one more year, they would have seen it turn around. You
need that first three to get your feet wet. After that it just
keeps getting better. You worry because you care. Nothing wrong
with that.

Here's a quote from my book

"“People only see what they are prepared to see.” This quote from
Ralph Waldo Emerson can be interpreted many ways. To me, it
illustrates the lack of preparation a new teacher has when
entering the classroom for the first time. You are only going to
be aware of the problems that are familiar to you."

Right now you are preparing yourself to see with new eyes so that
you can solve all the problems you face. Every day that you are
in the classroom, you will learn something new that will assist
you down the road. It's only years later that you will connect
the dots and see how it all fits together. Don't get too
discouraged. Spend some time preparing yourself to see clearly
and it will all work out.
