Some people are big fans of Wong - it would never work with
my students. They'd see through it in a minute.

Though I agree that warmth, regard and respect are the way to
reach children and that is Wong's main point. But past that,
his approach is too simplistic for my students. If it works
for others - and some say it does - that's wonderful.

Books I like? I like anything by Alfie Kohn - he thinks out
of the box. His new book The Myth of Homework is eye-opening
    and worth reading.

Are you looking for books on classroom management or school
in general? I also like Sandra O'Hanion's Whatever Happened
to Recess and Why is My Child Struggling in Kindergarten.
Some of Alfie Kohn's books are devoted to classroom
    management - he has a website. www.alfiekohn.com?/net?/org?

I also like Dumbing Us (Them?) Down by John Taylor Gatto -
it's an oldie but a goodie.
