I am 50 years old and will have my own classroom for the first time!!!!!!Been a forever substitute. I will be working at a Catholic school where salaries are very low. Is it appropriate for me to ask for a resource budget for the first year. I was going to negotiate a 500 dollar lump sum for resources. has anybody heard of doing this? Or am I being greedy?
whomever How much your get probably depends on what you are teaching. My school provides office supplies (stapler, tape dispensers, tape, markers, etc.) Then, because we teach science, we get additional funds for lab supplies.

First, I've never heard of a classroom budget allowance over 250$, and that was in a private school where the yearly tuition was high. Anywhere from 50-100 seems to be the norm, with 0$ being the most common I've seen.

Don't hesitate to ask for something you think you need.

Many teachers revamp their classroom each year and have extra stuff. Our school also receives a lot of donations from businesses. Office supplies are not usually a problem.
