I have developmental centers mixed with academic centers. I give
them about 45 minutes to one hour depending on how the day goes. I
allow the children to choose the center they want and limit the
amount of children. At first, some only select developmental (
water, sand, rice, playdough) but with time they start going to dry
erase boards, letter mats,writing journals, magnetic letters,
overhead, pocket charts etc. My children are free at this time to
choose. They love their time and it also gives me some time to
work individually with the low ones or even high ones.
