Try doing a theme based on Brown Bear Brown Bear by Eric
Color. I always do this COLOR theme at the beginnng of the
year and it can work for toddlers, 3, 4, & 5's
Read the book every day toddler love repititon,
Do one color each day like this:
Day 1: Color Brown & Bear Theme
Cut out a bear pattern and have children paint the bear brown
Make Brown Bear Pudding (chocolate pudding)
Finger paint with brown (chocolate pudding)
During cirle time have children growl like bear, walking on
their hands and kneew
Make a do a brown bear flannel story
print flannel story from here:

Day 2: Color Red & Bird Theme
Cut out a bird pattern from large white construction paper
and have children paint it red
Recite fingerplay: Two Little Red Birds
(two little black birds)
Day 3: Color Yellow & Duck Theme
Cut of large duck pattern from white construction paper and
have children paint it red
Or cut or tear yellow construticon paper and have them glue
it on the duck pattern, make a collage, buy wiggle eyes to
glue on also
Sing: 5 little ducks went out to play
Day 4: Color Blue & Horses
Cut out a horse pattern and have children paint it blue
Have children find all the BLUE things around the room and
collect in a bucket (this can be done for each color day)
Or sort legos, blue, yellow red, green, poor all the legos o
to the floor and have the children sort the legos into 4
piles or baskets and name the colors as you put them in the
basket
Day 5: Color Green & Frogs
Read Jump Frog Jump
Sing 5 green and specled Frogs
Cut out a Frog pattern and paint green
Day 6: Color Purple & Cats
Day 7: Color Orange & Fish
Day 8: Color White & Dogs
Day 9: Rainbow Colors (all the colors, review)
you get the idea I sure you can think of more.......
