Re: How do you handle biting?
Posted by Toddler2teacherMN on 1/17/08

I have this problem with a few of our toddlers also. We are
not supposed to call them "timeouts" but ,we give "breaks"
instead- a simple break from the action, and then when we say
so, they are able to come back. (It's a time out...)
I think its ridiculous you can't talk to the parents about
behaviors. Our center strives on open, honest communication
between teachers and parents. I don't really have any
suggestions for biting, besides encouraging using words,
gentle hands, etc. They are 2...this happens, no matter WHAT
you do- they don't all have the right words or the capability
of figuring out that they need to talk rather than react.
    Good Luck!
