    I'll throw in my $.02. :-) I think another huge advantage is the
    mixed age group. It's more like a family than a "class". The
    younger kids learn so much from the older ones and the older ones
    learn so much from guiding the younger ones.

    Also, if you look at evaluation tools like the ECERS, centers are
    given higher marks the more "home-like" they are. Having soft
    surfaces, having areas where a child can choose to be alone, etc.
    Centers need to "set up" home-like environments. Daycare homes ARE
    homes. :-)
