    Hi Pam,
What you are suggesting is exactly what I do, 1/2 day preschool
program for 3-5 yr olds. What you need to say to folks like the
resource center is that you want to do a 1/2 day PRESCHOOL, like a
YMCA preschool, or a church preschool program (give them the name
of one in your area) only it will be in your home.
Do you have a lot of preschools in your area? Would your
community support another? Also, do you have a lot of
stay-at-home moms? Many of my moms work, but most only work part
time. I've got a couple who work full time and babysitters or
grandmas bring the preschooler to school.
Be prepared to have low enrollment for the 1st year or so, unless
you have lots of connections in your community. My 1st year I had
a full 3 yr old class, but only 6 four year olds (I am licensed
for 8). The next year I added a 3rd class and all were full.
Word of mouth is how you'll fill your classes. I had worked in a
community program for 5 years before starting my preschool.
Just let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck. It
can be done....and you'll LOVE it!
