Hi Meme! How are you? I wondered what had happened to you.
Congratulations on your baby. How great for you to be able
to stay home and enjoy baby. Hey - how 'bout those Hawks?
Woo-Hoo!
You can use many of the same things you used with your 3
years olds, just in smaller amounts and you'll be monitoring
closely. Like water, water with bubbles, sand, rice with
cups and spoons, cornmeal, fingerpaint, roller paint, brush
paint, cornstarch and rice goop mix, newspaper tearing and
crumpling, playdoh.
I'm not sure I'm saying anything you don't already know, or
haven't tried. I'd just encourage you to involve baby in
everything you do as well as watching to see what baby enjoys
doing. Does baby show interest in the dirt when you are
outside? There's your next sensory experience. Learn about
the properties of dirt, then another time let baby add some
water to it and find out about mud. Show interest in the
washing machine filling up? Let her feel the water coming in
and then the soapy water when full. Interested in being with
you when you're cooking? Put some flour in a bowl with a
spoon and have baby sit right by you while you cook.
Watering flowers outside? Baby would love own watering can.
Washing riding toys with soapy water is great fun. Get a
package in the mail? Baby will love to walk and jump on
bubble wrap, or throw packing peanuts in the air.
Have fun playing with your precious baby!
