Re: Disrespectful Students

One more thing.....My mentor told me that when a student is disrespecting me I should just let it go because if I argue back, then I have 30 other kids on his side and it will just come back to bite me. It is very hard for me not to trust someone because I don't ever think that anyone lies to me. But I know that my students are always watching their own backs and will not go against each other. Does anyone else feel this way? Being a first year teacher I find it difficult to be stern with the students. I'm getting confused because my mentor tells me not to argue, but then I feel like if I don't justify myself, my students just think that I'm always wrong.
