Re: Classroom Management
Posted by Dina on 5/13/08

    Susannah,

I find that that my students respond to clearly stated and
reinforced expectations with regard to behavior. In the
beginning of the year, I collaborate with my second graders to
come up with a set of rules that we will live by in our
community. They are more apt to follow the rules that they help
to create. I also add to these my own expectations for
classroom behavior. We then create a document that lists or
classroom rules and together sign it. Throughout the year I
refer to this document to help redirect certain behaviors. The
students also now that there are consequences to breaking the
rules. Being consistent I believe is key.

    Good Luck,
    Dina
