A great tip someone gave me was to pick the two or three
things that really bug me in the classroom and make sure I
have procedures to deal with those things. For example, the
sound of the pencil sharpener drives me crazy and I don't
like it when kids mill around the door before class is over,
so I have definite procedures for those things.
I agree that it's important to pick a system, and work,
work, work it. It does feel awkward and unnatural at first,
but that's the case with just about anything new, but with
consistent practice and application, the awkwardness goes
away.
