Posted by zodea on 9/01/08 I think you need to find out if these kids are capable of taking decent notes. Do they have an IEP? Talk to your resource teacher and make sure they don't have some problem. It is possible that you need to provide them with a copy of your notes. If they kids are just lazy, you need to give them the poor grade and emphasize to them the importance of note taking. However, one open note quiz every month isn't enough to do that. You might want to do at least one per week. Either way you might want to talk to the parents. Maybe you could keep a binder in the room with copies of notes that students could come in after school and make sure their notes are complete. Make sure parents and students are aware of this and then give them the grade they earn.
