    Re: classroom rules
    Posted by futureteacher on 9/08/08

Thanks for the responses. I don't really mean to be vague but
I too see a difference between rules and procedures. I see
these as all encompassing of the kind of enviornment I want.
Nothing that they could do that I don't want for my classroom
would not fall under these rules. I am also developing a list
of procedures to know how I expect my class to run but Kerry I
do like your point about how they have to back up the rules so
that helps me maybe see how the two are connected or how I have
to make sure I have procedures or an enviornment that will help
them be able to live up to these expectations.
I imagine when sharing these with the students we would have a
communication about what they mean with them helping me come up
    with examples.
For example what is safe/unsafe behavior. Throwing a pencil -
unsafe. Pushing your chair in when you go to sharpen your
    pencil - safe.

Tom - I am thinking about the wording as you advised.

I also want to say I am so glad I found this board and
appreciate what I am learning from your discussions.
