Re: How do you mark incorrect answers?
Janie, nice post. Okay, so apologies in advance to answering
your question with an anecdote. But, it is Friday and the
celebration of our Independence: When my first child was in
school, 1st grade, for several days I'd review his homework
returned by his teacher and silently worried. Finally, one
day, I just burst out to my husband that I couldn't figure
out what was wrong with the homework. New math or no, I
thought for sure I was adding the correct number of ducks in
the picture. But the paper had 'C's all over it. He couldn't
stop laughing. How was I to know that the letter 'C' meant
correct? :-)
To your question, the parent who thinks her son's self esteem
was 'eviscerated' by benign circles will likely test every
teacher through College about every action taken she
perceives undermines her son. I would be curious to find out
what she thinks might be a less offensive approach.
I'll be watching for other ideas.
