Re: the students are enjoying the reactions

It's shock value for the kids - both from them saying it AND
from watching the expressions (other students, teachers, kids).
If you are a different sex, different age, different race from
the kids, then you are a target for the assault.
And, this becomes a habit they have a hard time breaking.
How to handle? I've seen this done a few ways:
1) Find some "cool" older kids - high school or college.
These volunteers should be recognized as some of the most
popular ones, not necessarily the best behaved. Look for
members of the football team, as opposed to members of Boy
Scouts. Ask them directly for their help - giving your group
information on when and where this language is appropriate (in
private, not public settings). Other than that, don't give
your volunteers any more direction - let them handle the
content. I think you'll find the volunteers will understand
the problem and be willing to help you out.
2) For your very worst students, get permission from the
parent to quietly record an incident, and then brainstorm with
the parent what to say (good cop, bad cop). Bring in the
student and play the tape. Do the good cop, bad cop routine.
If you can do this with 2 or 3 of the students, then you'll
have set the tone.
3) First word - ISS. Every single time. At some point, the
number of days in ISS accumulates into Saturday school or
possibly alternative school.
4) After X incidents, call the police. Have the police
officer give an official warning about public language (most
towns have a law about public vulgarity).
By preference, I'd probably try 1 or 2 first, but be prepared
for 4.
