Re: Japan video was beautiful. Thank you Steve

I know Japan well. That is the Japanese people I
know--thoughtful, kind, polite, nice, sensitive. I also know
about the Rape of Nanking and dissection of living American
POW's but I never saw that side of them and it is hard for me to
resolve how the same people could have both faces. Humans are
complex, yes?
But maybe they learned from that. Perhaps because they are such a
reflective people. I mean they reflect deeply on their actions
and always take responsibility so perhaps their bad actions tend
to improve them more than another nation could.
I always tell people that the Japanese are on the whole the most
polite and most honest people that I have ever known. But I am
sure it is hard for people who haven't been there to understand
what I mean by that.
But on the other hand, some of them (adults!) when I lived there
very pointedly laughed at my large feet (size 9), which wasn't
very nice and made me feel very bad. Boy did I feel like a
big-boned, troll of a human being over there because of my feet
and frizzy hair. So maybe they aren't so polite? Now I am just
confused
