I worked with a 6th grade teacher who was queen of the "cute".

She made up passes and either handpainted or decoupaged them onto
LARGE pieces of wood (we're talking about 8 1/2 by 11). On the back
she handwrote her name, classroom number. The date, time, and
student's name were written on a postit note; the student was
responsible for keeping up with the postit AND the chunk of wood.

The library pass was in the shape of a scroll.
The principal's office was in the shape of a castle.
The rest room was in the shape of a fancy mirror.
The nurse's office was in the shape of a bandaid.
The coach's office was the footprint of the mascot.
The resource room (SPED) was in the shape of a brain.
The computer teacher's was a monitor.
The band director was the hat from the band uniform.

The "receiver" could handwrite a reply on the same postit or another
one.

She told me that BIG helped ensure the pass returned.
