Take your best students and train them to lead by example and
help you redirect. Surround the new student on the first day
with these students and let it happen naturally. Go so far as
to tell the new student that the students you will be sitting
by are your mentors. They will be helping you understand the
norms of our class. As an added benefit, the mentors will
develop a greater sense of leadership in your class and will
take ownership in the class to a greater degree. This might
    get infectious.
