Re: Active Directory
Posted by Tech Teacher on 9/30/07

In my district we have been using Active Directory for several
years, and even kindergarten students are taught to use a
username and password. However, we are not a huge district
(about 5000 students) and we simply use the students' last
names and first initials to log in. The passwords for younger
students are assigned by teachers. As an instructional
technologist who works directly with the teachers and their
students, I have not ever had any complaints about the
usernames. Knowing how to log in is part of the technology
applications expectations for all students in my district and
is something that can be taught to them.
