If you want your students to use technology then it should be used by teachers to intergrate what is being done in the classroom. Example: Learing about butterflies? Research in class, read books, look on the Internet. Gather facts. Then each student makes a slide or two with these facts in the lab. Prior to going to the lab have students free explore during learning stations powerpoint. Then slides are made into a class presentation. Teacher must show students the basics of ppt, but once the students know the basics they can run with it. I did the above with 2nd graders.
