    Re: Podcasting
Posted by V. Miller on 7/01/08

    > It will happen this year, and I want to make sure I am in on it.
I am not at NECC, but my principal, technology person, and a fellow
teacher are there, and that is their sole objective....to get our
    podcasting up and running.

I was so upset that I didn't get to go to NECC this year, especially
since I'm in Houston! But I also have my technological scouts out
    scrounging up material for me.

My background is in recording, and we owned our own Protools
studio when we lived in Nashville.

What type equipment do you have? What type mics? Where will the
    students podcast?

I am so overwhelmed right now with the hardware. I'm playing around
with a mixing board that reminded why I got out of technical theater
classes! I've never even used a non-USB mic before.

This is what we have right now:
    Alesis Multimix 12 USB Mixer
    Shure KSM32 Professional Broadcast Microphone
Digidesign Mbox 2 USB Audio Interface
    Nady SCM1000 SCM Series Microphone

I am also concerned about the itunes logistics and blocked
    sites.

iTunes has been a thorn in our side, but I think our IT people have
worked out a way to make it work. I could try and explain it, but I
think I'd just end up mangling it. I know that we have an elementary
school working with iTunes right now, so I don't forsee too much of a
problem with it. Our tech support person is also going to be blogging
on the webpage for the more technical aspects of the project, like
how we are going to get iTunes to work.

What filter are you using? We just made the switch to Lightspeed
after using BESS. We haven't gotten that far, but I'll be posting
    those experiences as well.

Good luck! I bookmarked your blog to keep up with your
    progress.

Thanks! I was actually wondering if you wouldn't mind sending me an e-
mail since you seem to be in a very similar situation. I also
wouldn't mind bombarding you with questions since your background is
    in recording.

    Thanks,
    V
