Posted by Steve on 6/30/08 One way to do this is to simply save your MS Word document containing the embedded Windows metafile (WMF) images as an HTML web page using the "save as web page" command on the MS Word toolbar. Besides creating the main HTML index page, this operation will also create a separate folder containing the individual image files from the document in the form of JPEG files. If your original images were in bitmap form, i.e., TIFF or BMP files, this will result in some loss of quality, because conversion to GIF and JPEG formats is not lossless (i.e, not reversible).
