Photostory 3 comes with most computers, but is also
available as a free download. I used it with this year's
summer tech camp for 1st through 5th grades, and it was
great. We had the kids take pictures during the camp of
different things around the campus and themselves. With
Photostory 3, the kids picked the pictures, added text to
most of the pictures, recorded individual narration and
added background music. It was then presented to the
parents at Parents' Night at which time each family was able
to take a copy of the presentation on a CD.
We also did Mystery Pictures. Each student chose a picture
to crop and resize to make it into a Mystery Picture. Then
they uploaded the picture onto the Wiki site along with the
original.
Going back to Photostory 3, I plan to have the kids take
pictures to show the definitions of particular words from
their Academic Vocabulary to place on the classroom Web
site. They can write the word on the picture, say the word
and definition and use it in a sentence. Then, anyone can
click on it to review.
