    Re: Wikis
Posted by Terry in Texas on 9/29/08

Have you thought about PMWiki at http://www.pmwiki.com/? I use it
and love 99%of it. It looks really great, but once it is set up
is so easy to maintain. I taught my 5th graders how to use the
pages I set up for them. They each have their own page for
writing letters to me online. Each student has his/her own pass
word. They also write a report for classroom news and can add
information to different pages which I allow without passwords. I
am in total control. And if someone were to mess up a page, I can
go back and fix the damage with a simple click of a button. The
best thing is - it is absolutely free. All of it! All you have
to do is download it to your server, set up a few things on the
server and then make changes from any computer that is connected
to the Internet. Please view my classroom wiki.

I also have a private chat room that only those who I have added
to it can participate. They can not invite anyone else to join
because they cannot go outside the chat room. It is completely
safe. And I get to read everyone's chat. I tell my kids that if
they don't want their folks to find out, don't say it in the chat
room. And...it is completely free! Check it out at
