Katie, you can download Google Sketchup for free and do some
architectural projects. If you don't know how to use it,
download it this summer.

I had my 4-8th grade students design symmetrical floor tiles
and also had them design an exterior model of a community
area -their choice. For the exterior model, they had to plan
out what they wanted like a floor plan and label each area,
then save it and also export it as a jpg. Then, after saving
the original file as 3D - they popped the buildings out and
put in doors and windows. It's really a great project and
helps the kids to start thinking about future employment. A
couple of the kids wanted to design a whole city but we ran
out of time.
