I was in the same position 4 years ago. I was social studies and
now teach 7th and 8th grade computers. You basically have to
figure it out for yourself. I've never found anything online to
help and am still looking for guidance! I do 1-2 weeks of
keyboarding and timed typing tests thereafter as bellringers.
They have to do 3 one minute tests and find the mean, median,
mode, and range for the WPM. I also do some basic information and
vocabulary because they should know it by 7th grade but don't. I
created some Word Lessons to cover the skills I think they should
have or at least be introduced to in middle school. I also do
blogging as bellringers because kids really enjoy it. It takes
about a week to teach them how to blog. I try to fit in Excel but
struggle with finding good projects, then try to get a Publisher
or PowerPoint project in but usually run out of time. My courses
are 9 weeks and they go by very quickly. I have gone to mostly
completion grades and quizzes but am struggling with finding a
grading scheme that actually satisfies me. If you'd like, I can
send you some of my assignments. Email me brittanydebolt at gmail
