Re: No experience in counseling
Posted by musicmae on 4/17/08

Oh please - you were a teacher - you have plenty of
experience working in a school. Usually they tell
counselors to try subbing to get experience. If you have
worked in the schools you should know how the interview
process goes. It is about clicking with the administration
and teachers who interviewed you. There is nothing you can
do about that except to keep trying and have a positive
outlook. Something will come your way. During your
interview use an example of how you really helped a student
when you were a teacher - we all know that teachers hear a
lot of same things counselors do. How did you help, what
did you do? Hope this helps a little, I know it is tough
going through the interview process, but there is usually
only one or two counselors in a school so the interviews are
    really tough.
