Re: Playground manners + getting along?!?!?!?!?
Posted by lacey on 5/02/08

i have heard of principals asking for demo lessons as part
of the interview process. while i understand why they do
it, classroom guidance is just one part of the many duties
of a school counselor and it's the part we receive the LEAST
training on how to do. i suggest finding out how the
principal will be evaluating your lesson do you know a
teacher in the school or district that has had lessons
evaluated before? maybe they could give some tips. i know
my practicum site supervisor used to get horrible
evaluations based on her lessons because she was reflecting
and paraphrasing student answers which was a big no no on
the evaluation form...but hello, we do a lot of that
    naturally.

as far as the lesson topic...i've never read them but maybe
hyou can incorporate a book like the recess queen or the
king of the playground. i think a conflict resolution
lesson with examples about playground conflicts would be
appropriate as well as incorporating school recess rules.

good luck! i can imagine you are feeling really nervous
about it, but find your confidence and let it shine through
during your lesson. you will do great!
